The Project
59 will bring awareness to one of America’s hidden public-health crises—the trauma, isolation, shortened lifespans, and staggering suicide rates faced by correctional officers and the efforts being made to support the men and women in the corrections profession. Told with empathy and rare access into the lives of officers both inside and outside the prison walls, this documentary will reveal the human cost of the job and the growing search and implementation of solutions that protect those who protect others.
59 represents the average lifespan of US Correctional Officers. It is well known that the correctional workforce is strained, understaffed, and struggling with health outcomes that rival military veterans and emergency responders—yet with far less attention or support.

Our Mission
Welcome to 59, a documentary that sheds light on the hidden public-health crisis confronting correctional officers. By focusing on the experiences of these officers and their families, we aim to the stigma surrounding their profession and foster a deeper understanding of the emotional and physical challenges they face. Our mission is to spark meaningful dialogue, elevate unheard voices, and build lasting partnerships with organizations dedicated to reform and wellness. Together, we can transform awareness into action and advocate for the support that correctional officers urgently need.

Budget
A film budget is a detailed financial plan that outlines all the projected costs associated with producing and marketing a film. Making a film costs money, and creating high-quality films typically requires spending more on hiring talented and skilled technical professionals, such as directors, cameramen, lighting and sound engineers, as well as creatives, including editors, marketing, and communication coordinators.
Our film 59: The Hidden Toll will be shot in the highest quality with the latest lens technology (8K Super 35 - 3840 x 1744). We are looking for $30,000 in pledges to cover our production costs. The balance of the budget will be covered by sponsorships and partnerships.
